Our toolkit guides us and our customers through up to seven phases of activities. Each phase improves our understanding of the problem we are trying to solve, and enables the team to produce artefacts in support of how we are going about solving it.

We apply our toolkit based on the type of problem that we are dealing with, how much time we have available, and depending on the progress we make as a team.

PHASE 1: EXAMINE

Is the problem we are setting out to solve, is actually the problem? Are there are any adjacencies more compelling or valuable? Can we frame a succinct problem statement?

PHASE 2: CONCEPTUALISE

Brainstorm potential ideas to the refined problem statement whilst addressing barriers and opportunities. Generate a shortlist of candidate activities and an ideas portfolio.

PHASE 3: ELABORATE

Add further detail to our prioritised candidate activities across eight different categories in order to move beyond candidacy and into realisation.

PHASE 4: EVALUATE

With a portfolio of elaborated candidate activities, evaluate each activity for value, feasibility & desirability to address the economic, social and technological aspects of each solution.

PHASE 5: ARTICULATE

Describe and articulate the value proposition of each candidate activity within the portfolio and the change required to achieve it through a business case or appropriate business document.

PHASE 6: OPERATIONALISE

Through a facilitation exercise prove value of a pilot activity including data points, assumptions, risks & key findings at each phase. Educate potential implementation partners.

PHASE 7: VALUE REALISATION

Measure and document the expected and achieved value realised. Harvest repeatable artefacts and document lessons learned.

“…benefits should be the driver behind all change initiatives from initiation through to, and beyond, implementation. Yet the reality is that many organisations still struggle to demonstrate that desired benefits have been realised in practice.”

Why Salient?

We are equally capable of assisting executive, management and the working level.

Our methodology guides us

Our seven-phase methodology is designed to be able to lead teams through solving complex business problems with the assistance of IT. We recognise that teams will receive edicts that are urgent. They will recognise business problems that need to be solved. They will spot opportunities to be captured. They will need help working with multiple partners. They will benefit from guidance in the form of roadmaps. We can start with any of these needs and evolve the way we deal with them as they mature.

We are nimble and flexible

Because we are a small team, we can be very flexible and can easily accomodate change. While our methodology guides us, it does not constrain us. We expect bumps in the road and hurdles. We anticipate and encourage the discovery of new opportunities. We are outcomes-focused and we recognise that a team’s positive experience is critical to their effectiveness in solving problems. We will adjust what we do to get the right outcome for the team and we will not sacrifice their experience on the alter of process.

Is there a problem that we can help you with?

If you are ready for an obligation-free introductory conversation to discuss an edict, a business problem, an opportunity you want to capture, how to work with multiple partners, or your team needs a roadmap, please get in touch and we will talk you through how we would approach your need.
